Patna: Senior BJP le-ader Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday questioned the silence of chief minister Nitish Kumar on the thrashing of Dalit youths in Muzaffarpur. 

Modi alleged that cases of atrocities against Dalits had risen manifold in Bihar and the government had failed to take any action.

Patna: The economic offences unit has found that Mukesh Pathak, a sharpshooter of Santosh Jha gang, had Rs 25 crore in his bank accounts in Bihar, Jharkhand, UP’s Meerut, Odisha and Goa’s Vasco da Gama. 

Escape

Munger: Ranjeet Kumar (30), one of the three prisoners in a murder case, escaped from judicial custody in Lakhisarai on Monday after the court of the additional district and sessions judge (I) Anil Kumar found the trio guilty of charges under sections 364/302/34 of IPC. 

Arrest

Darbhanga: Alauddin Khan alias Tara Babu Khan was arrested during a raid on Monday in a Dalit atrocity case from Paithan-Kabai village in Manigachhi. 

Girls drown

Muzaffarpur: Two 12-year-old girls, Ruby Kumari and Manju Kumari, drowned in the Gandak in Gorigama under Paroo police station on Monday. Divers were deployed to fish out the bodies.
