Petition for Ruby

Patna: A bail petition was filed on Tuesday on behalf of Ruby Rai, the prime accused in the Intermediate topper scam.

Patna civil court advocate K.D. Mishra lodged the petition on her behalf. Another petition, also filed by Mishra, wants the board declaring her a juvenile. The two petitions will be heard on Wednesday. In addition, the special investigation team (SIT) will question K.N Paswan, an official with the education department in connection with providing recognition to colleges by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).

Patna: Patna University Teachers Association (PUTA) on Tuesday strongly condemned the action of the vice-chancellor in suspending their teachers and demanded immediate withdrawal of suspension of professor Shiv Jatan Thakur and Dr Shashi Bhushan Rai.

Accident

Chhapra: Two sisters were crushed to death by a city bus near Kakma village on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Lalkesari Devi and Sunaina Devi who were riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by Lalkesari's son, Dhiraj. The driver of the bus was arrested and the vehicle was seized by the police.

Gaya: Members of the 34th Kalchakra Puja committee on Tuesday met Gaya district magistrate Kumar Ravi and handed him a request letter for arrangements like power, water, sanitation, accommodation, traffic, security and others during the puja scheduled from January 3 to 14, 2017.

PIL

Patna: A division bench of Acting Chief Justice I.A. Ansari and Justice Anjana Mishra on Tuesday directed the state government to file a reply by July 26 in a case related to encroachment at the Bihar Veterinary College, Patna. The order was passed while hearing a PIL filed by Vikash Chandra alias Guddu Baba.
