Patna: A division bench of Acting Chief Justice I.A. Ansari and Justice Anjana Mishra on Monday directed the Bar Council of India (BCI) to file a reply by August 1 in a case related to granting of affiliation to some colleges imparting LLB courses in Bihar despite their affiliations being terminated.

Dowry death

Chhapra: Ritu Kumari (19), a newly married woman, was allegedly killed for dowry on Monday. She was found hanging from a fan in Aghara village under Gaura police outpost.

Compensation

Patna: A compensation of Rs 2 lakh was paid to one Kavita Kumari on the direction of Bihar human rights commission following her husband's death due to electrocution in 2011 near Danapur railway premises.

Teachers' pay

Patna: Bihar human rights commission on Monday issued notices to the director, higher secondary education, and Munger district education officer to file a status report by August 5 in a case of non-payment of salary to teachers of minority schools in Munger in the past 15 months. The case is next listed for hearing on August 5.

Robbery

Gopalganj: Unidentified men snatched a bag containing Rs 80,000 from Amrit Pandey (75) on Monday. The accused first touched his feet and then fled with the bag from an SBI branch in Sasamusa. Pandey was going to deposit the money there.
