ED team seals property

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s Patna zonal office on Friday attached the movable and immovable property of Munger gun-runner Sanoj Yadav, who is now out on bail. Sanoj had been involved in several cases of illegal trade of arms and ammunition, and has already been chargesheeted in three cases. The attachment of property came under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

Workshop

Bhagalpur: Randhir Choudhary (44), a progressive farmer from Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur, will represent Bihar at the national workshop on sustainable mango production. The two-day event will start on June 18 at the regional research station of Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture in Bengal’s Malda. More than a hundred varieties of mangoes from Bihar will be displayed.

Thai PM visit

Gaya: General Prayut Chan-o-cha, prime minister of Thailand, will visit Mahabodhi Mahavihara on Saturday around 10.30am. District magistrate Kumar Ravi and the senior superintendent of police Garima Malik reviewed the 
security arrangements from Gaya airport to Bodhgaya on Friday. 

Olympiad

Patna: Three students from the city achieved ranks in the international olympiad organised by Science Olympiad Foundation. About 45 lakh students from 1,400 cities of 23 countries participated in the event. 

Rights order

Patna: Bihar Human Rights Commission on Friday directed the Araria district magistrate to pay a compensation of Rs 25,000 to Arvind Kumar Yadav, a disabled man, who was chained at the hospital after he was found to be unfit for jail. 

Yoga day

Patna: Yoga Day will be observed at the Legislative Assembly on June 21. The BJP will also organise a programme on June 23 on the death anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. 

Patient death

Patna: Attendants of a male patient admitted to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences claimed that he died on Thursday night because of the hospital's failure in providing ventilator support on time. IGIMS's medical superintendent Prabhat Kumar Sinha said the patient had come with a brain haemorrhage and the hospital had already informed the patient's relatives that the hospital did not have adequate ventilator support.

Admission

Patna: Admission to various academic programmes for the July 2016 session of IGNOU has started and the last date of submission of application for post-graduate programmes is June 30 with a late fee of Rs 300.

Army course

Patna: National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) signed an MoU with the Indian Army, according to which, soldiers serving at borders will be able to study in Class XII through distance education.
