Drought relief

New Delhi, May 21 (PTI): The Centre today said that drought-hit Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh have been provided extra food grains for distribution to even non-ration card holders on the Supreme Court's order and has asked others to place their requirements.

In a judgment last week, the court had asked the Centre to bring all people in the drought-hit states under the national food security system.

Guarantor

Pilibhit (PTI): The bank accounts of a farmer from Khajuria Naviram village were frozen for standing as "guarantor" for Vijay Mallya, who is facing money laundering charges. The farmer, Manmohan Singh, said he does not even know Mallya or his company.

Maoists shot

Raipur (PTI): Three Maoists were gunned down on Saturday in an encounter with security forces at different places of Chhattisgarh's Bastar region, police said. In another incident, some Maoists fired and hurled bombs at a police camp in Bijapur area.

Hooda case

New Delhi (PTI): The CBI has registered a case against former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for alleged irregularities in allocation of industrial plots in Panchkula. According to an FIR, the plots were given to 14 people by allegedly manipulating certain provisions of allotment.

Goa schools

Panaji (PTI): The Goa government has decided to appoint a security guard or watchman outside every aided and government secondary schools who will keep a tab on visitors. The state cabinet on Friday passed the scheme to provide safety to the children.

Cash loot

Patna : Armed criminals shot at and seriously injured two security guards and looted Rs 8 lakh from a cash van that was bound for a nationalised bank's ATM in Muddabad market area under Mohiuddin police station area of Samastipur district on Saturday. The injured guards have been admitted to hospital in a critical condition.
