Mishap claims 3

Purnea (PTI): Three people were killed and 10 others injured when a tractor trolley in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck on NH-57 on Wednesday.

Deputy superintendent of police Raj Kumar Sah said the accident occurred near a petrol pump between Gulab Bagh and Kasba.

Huts gutted

Nawada (PTI): About 125 huts of Mahadalit families were gutted in a fire at Kachhiya in the district late on Tuesday night, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees.

Nawada (PTI): Undertrial Md Mushtaq on Wednesday escaped from the Nawada district court premises after cutting the rope with which his hands were tied.

Patna: The Jharkhand police will set up additional check posts in the districts close to the border with Bihar to implement the prohibition policy that will come into effect in Bihar from April 1. The decision was taken at a meeting of Bihar and Jharkhand police officers on Wednesday.

Varsity order

Patna: A high court division bench on Wednesday directed Patna University vice-chancellor and Patna Women's College principal to personally appear before the court on Thursday in a case related to filling of examination forms for graduate courses in January.

College case

Patna: A Patna High Court division bench directed all district magistrates, principals and superintendents of medical colleges concerned to appear before it in a case related to encroachment on the college campuses.

Seizure

Patna: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence sleuths on Wednesday raided Delhi-bound 12505 Northeast Express and seized 6.8 lakh cigarette sticks of foreign brands manufactured in Myanmar from its brake van. As per conservative estimates, the consignment is worth Rs 70 lakh.

Arrest

Patna: Income tax officer Aditya Kumar and court clerk Mantu Choudhary were arrested by CBI officials from Bhagalpur on Wednesday on the charge of accepting illegal gratification.
