Kidnap foiled
Motihari: Police nabbed three armed criminals and foiled an abduction on Thursday, following a tip-off from the East Champaran superintendent of police. Police seized the stolen SUV and its abducted driver from State Highway 74 on Wednesday .
The arrested have been identified as Shashi Bhushan Ram, Chandan Kumat and Mohammad Ali Sheikh, while the driver has been identified as Kesariya resident Surendra Mahto.
Red arrest
Patna: A team of the SSB's 27th battalion apprehended three Naxalites, who were allegedly involved in raiding the Sundaram brick kiln at Marvapakar village, from Reva village in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday.
Utsav blues
Patna: BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday questioned the government's preparations for Prakash Utsav. He claimed that the Old City residents did not have alternative routes to reach their destination, and were also suffering power cuts and shortage of potable water.
Farm fail
Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday accused the state government of failing to streamline the paddy procurement process. He said 2.81 lakh farmers should have been registered by November 15, but the state government had registered only 34,645 farmers.
Insurance
Patna: The president of the state unit of the Indian National Trade Union Congress, Chandra Prakash Singh, issued a press note on Thursday which said that employees earning around Rs 21,000 per month would not be entitled for registration with the employees' state insurance and that they and their family members would benefit from cashless treatment effective from January 1, 2017.
Weather system
Darbhanga: The automated weather station at Darbhanga is dysfunctional, but district statistical officer Surendra Mochi said that he was not aware of it, and would send a report to the state headquarters after procuring details.
Workshop
Patna: Indian Overseas Bank organised a workshop on digital banking on Thursday at the office of Agrani Group of companies. Bank officials briefed participants about digital banking and the bank's retail products.
Old notes
Gopalganj: Baikunthpur police of Gopalganj district on Thursday recovered around Rs 25,000 in the old Rs 500 notes. The notes were cut and thrown near Bhagwanpur More under the jurisdiction of Baikunthpur police station area.
Arrest
Patna: Paliganj police arrested Prince Rahul and Vivek Kumar accused of allegedly murdering Mintu Kumar, a resident of Paliganj. The police also recovered the victim's bike and mobile phone. Rahul and Vivek killed Mintu over a monetary issue of the bank.
