Liquor seizure in Siwan

Siwan, Dec. 19: Police today seized 680 bottles of country liquor and 114 bottles of foreign liquor from an SUV near Gudhni Mor in Siwan.

The driver of the vehicle managed to escape.

Gopalganj: Block development committee member Suman Devi lodged an FIR against six persons on Monday, accusing them of demanding Rs 3 lakh from her husband Chandan Yadav in connection with a land dispute case. The six persons are absconding.

Patna: A high court division bench on Monday reserved its order on a case related to Crime Control Act imposed on Mokama Independent MLA Anant Singh. The Mokama strongman had challenged the Act imposed on him by the state government in court.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar, in his capacity as JDU president, nominated MLC Kapil Patil as convener of the party's Maharashtra unit on Monday. Party secretary general K.C. Tyagi said as convener, Patil has been assigned the responsibility to strengthen the party in the western state by carrying out membership programmes.

Condolence

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday condoled the demise of environmentalist Anupam Mishra who passed away in New Delhi on Monday.

In his condolence message, he said Mishra was a true Gandhian and a water conservationist, travelled to villages across India to spread awareness about the value of time-tested systems of water harvesting.
