Siwan trial date

Patna: Formalities for commencement of trial in the Rajiv Roshan murder case - in which Siwan don-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin is a prime accused - were completed on Thursday, paving the way for framing of charges.

The court has fixed November 25 as next date of hearing in the case.

Sentence

Patna: Special CBI Judge Manoj Kumar Singh on Thursday sentenced Duryodhan Tanti, former manager of Punjab National Bank, Amas branch in Gaya, and Udayan Kumar, a proprietor of Ram Kripal Company, to five years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a case of forgery at the bank in 1987. The CBI had lodged an FIR on August 19, 1994.

Bribery

Patna: A CBI team arrested Vinod Kumar, the traffic inspector of East Central Railway posted at Khagaria Station, red-handed with Rs 20,000 which he accepted as bribe from Sanosh Kumar Das, a porter, on Thursday. Special CBI Judge Dev Raj Tripathi remanded Vinod in judicial custody.

Patna: Around 250 students of Montessori school, with their teachers and director Sister Mary Namrata, visited HelpAge India at Patliputra Colony on Thursday. The children interacted with the elderly and presented them with handmade cards.

Court order

Patna: A Patna High Court division bench of Acting Chief Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Vikas Jain on Thursday directed the state's general administration department to file a reply to the case related to the inclusion of the Tanti (Tatva) caste into the scheduled caste list by the state government.
