Bhagalpur: Banka district magistrate Nilesh Deore on Friday prohibited the entry of the bureau-in-charge of Satya Prakesh, a vernacular daily, into government establishments. Deore has directed his subordinates to take immediate action and register an FIR in case of a violation.

Baby rescued

Katihar (PTI): A infant, who was allegedly picked up by a health worker from a hospital in Katihar on Friday , was rescued and handed back to his parents. Police have arrested three persons.

Patna: East Central Railway on Friday announced changes in its schedule, from October 15 to 29, for nine trains at Samastipur station, due to ongoing construction at platform number five.

Film fest

Patna: Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan on Friday announced it will organise the Bihar Child Film Festival on November 14 and 15 on its premises, to celebrate the Children's Day. Three films are scheduled daily from 10am to 5pm.

Health pact

Motihari, Oct. 14: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, signed an agreement to launch the masters in public health programme today.

Faculty from Mahatma Gandhi Central University will train doctors from AIIMS on public health. The two institutes' aim in launching public health courses is to create a cadre of public health workers who will train people on hygiene.

Growth jab

Patna: State BJP president Mangal Pandey attacked chief minister Nitish Kumar for the deteriorating state of law and order at the inauguration of the BJP's two-day executive committee meeting on Friday. Pandey said Nitish has no time for development work and maintaining law and order, as he is in busy with enacting prohibition.

Transfer

Patna: The state government on Friday transferred four deputy superintendents of police, including Rahmat Ali, the sub-divisional police officer of Udakishanganj, Madhepura. Ali come under the scanner for his role in initiating action against people, belonging to a particular group, violating prohibitory orders at Bihariganj after clashes on Wednesday.

Assault

Patna: The Maner police lodged an FIR on Thursday against five persons for allegedly kidnapping an electrician by the name of Pawan Kumar and chopping off his tongue. Police said that personal enmity was the motive.

Tribute

Patna: The state unit of Indian Red Cross Society on Friday paid tribute to their oldest member Dr Giriraj Shankar Prasad who passed away in New Delhi on Thursday . Prasad became a member in 1964 and was the joint director of the Bihar health department.

Badminton

Darbhanga: The district will play host to the East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship, 2016, which commences October 25 and will continue till October 28. All matches will be held at the indoor stadium in Laheriasarai.
