Election round II final list

Patna, Sept. 29: A total of 471 candidates would fight the second phase of elections from 32 constituencies.

Additional chief electoral officer R. Laxmanan said 28 persons withdrew their nominations on Tuesday. A total of 166 cases of violation of model code of conduct were lodged across the state.

Chamber head

Patna: O.P. Shah was re-elected the president of Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries at its 88th annual general meeting on Tuesday.

Anant case

Patna: Beur police have filed a chargesheet against former JDU MLA Anant Singh in connection with the murder of Sanjeet Pahalwan on August 2, 2009.

Jawan in net

Gopalganj: Police on Tuesday nabbed a BSF jawan, Amit Singh, for looting almost Rs 29 lakh from three businessmen.

Check order

Gaya: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal inspected Pitripaksh Mela around the Vishnupad temple on Tuesday. He directed civil surgeon Krishna Mohan Purwe to conduct surprise checks at health camps thrice daily to ensure best possible service to devotees.

Seizure

Chhapra/Munger: Police on Tuesday seized Rs 22 lakh, along with a rifle and seven live cartridges, from an SUV at Khaira. In Munger, the police seized Rs 9 lakh during routine checking of vehicles.

Guilty

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Perwez Alam on Tuesday held four persons, including Bhola Rai, a resident of Phulya Tola (Danapur), guilty for the murder of one Deepak Kumar on August 16, 2009. The next date of hearing is on October 3.

Sentence

Munger: The additional district and sessions judge (V), Jyoti Swaroop Shrivastava, on Tuesday sentenced Shobha Devi (48) and her two sons, Aanand Kumar (27) and Amit Kumar (28) to rigorous imprisonment for seven years. They were slapped with a fine of Rs 5,000 each for kidnapping a girl child in May 2014.
