Bhagalpur: Goa governor Mridula Sinha on Monday underlined the responsibilities of teachers and parents to inculcate in children the traditional values of the country.

Sinha was in Bhagalpur to address students and faculty of Delhi Public School at the institution's 11th foundation day celebrations.

Teacher meet

Gaya: A five-day workshop started at a Bodhgaya hotel on Monday. The event is aimed at preparing teachers to deal with problems and the issues of adolescents aged between 10 and 19 years. A total of 46 teachers from Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas, under the Patna zone, are taking part in the interactive workshop.

Rebel fight

Muzaffarpur: The police headquarters have decided to involve central forces in launching a blitzkrieg attack named Operation Clean against Maoists in view of the upcoming Assembly elections. The operation would be initiated in nine districts of north Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, from the first week of August.

Karate

Patna: Fifty karate experts from Patna would take part in the All India Independence Cup Karate Do Championship, to be organised by Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do India in Delhi, from August 22. Around 2,000 karatekas from across the country are scheduled to participate in the two-day championship.

College cell

Darbhanga: The Darbhanga Medical College administration revived their anti-ragging committee on Monday to maintain order before the new session. The five-member committee, led by the college superintendent, would maintain a constant vigil on the campus and take stern action against troublemakers who indulge in any form of ragging.

Power dharna

Muzaffarpur: The JDU MLA from Minapur, Dinesh Prasad Kushwaha, on Monday launched an indefinite hunger strike against the "lethargic" functioning of Essel Vidyut Vitran Limited, the power distribution franchisee in Muzaffarpur district.

Anant case

Patna: Kotwali police on Monday filed chargesheets against two persons, including JDU MLA Anant Singh, in the court of chief judicial magistrate in connection with the murder of one Sanjay Singh. Sanjay was shot dead on East Boring Canal Road in 2008.
