Carnage acquittal

Patna: The high court bench on Wednesday acquitted 14 persons convicted by a trial court in the 1998 Rampur Chauram massacre in Jehanabad for want of evidence. Nine people from the upper castes were allegedly killed by Naxalites in retaliation to the Laxmanpur Bathe massacre.

Blast duo

Patna: Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) judge Anil Kumar Singh on Wednesday directed Beur jail superintendent to hand over Umer Siddiqui and Haider Ali, the Gandhi Maidan bomb blast accused, to Bangalore police for production in the Bangalore CBI court.

Bank award

Patna: Allahabad Bank has been awarded the first prize for working efficiently according to the Rajbhasha Policy 2013-14 in category "A".

Manjhi adviser

Patna: Amrik Singh Nimbran, security adviser to former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned from the post on Wednesday.

Man detained

Patna: Sashastra Seema Bal detained a Hyderabad resident from Sitamarhi while he was trying to sneak into India from Nepal on Tuesday.

Court ton

Patna: The high court would kick off its centenary celebrations on April 18. The ceremony would be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee, said Patna High Court judge Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh on Wednesday.

The Chief Justice of India and the Union law minister are also expected to attend the programme.

Child rights

Patna: World Vision India on Wednesday organised a consultation on child rights and health in Patna as part of its global initiative campaign.

Road rally

Patna: India-Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 promoted by the Union ministry of road transport and highways will pass through Bihar on March 1 and 2. The rally is aimed at spreading awareness about road safety and better cooperation in the areas of road transport between India and Nepal.

Waterlogging

Patna: Indian National Trade Union Congress, Patna division, general secretary Ajay Kumar on Wednesday demanded the Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner to clear encroachments from sewers, which eventually leads to waterlogging.
