Power boon for villages

Patna, Dec. 3: Union power minister Piyush Goyal today said 12 Bihar villages had been electrified for the first time after Independence.

The work was done under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana last week.

Accident

Darbhanga: Two persons were killed and 35 injured in a bus accident at Kakarghati in Darbhanga district on Thursday. The victims' identity had not been established yet.

Cancellation

Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) on Thursday cancelled eight Chennai-bound trains because of the floods in the southern city. ECR chief public relations officerArvind Kumar Rajak said eight trains, including Patna-Ernakulam Express (22644), Patna-Bangalore Sanghamitra Express (12295), have been cancelled on December 4 and 5.

Demand

Patna: The CPI-ML (Liberation) on Thursday demanded the release of its MLA Satyadeo Ram, currently in jail, as well as 10 other leaders imprisoned under Tada. Party general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the government should ensure punishment is meted out to persons involved in Lakshmanpur Bathe, Bathani Tola and Miyanpur massacres.

Six kids killed

Kishanganj (PTI): Six school children on Thursday were killed and nine others injured when a jeep carrying them from Kishanganj to North Dinajpur in Bengal collided with a truck near Rampur checkpost.
