Shock death for boy

Siwan: A Class X student of Emmanuel Mission Convent School died of electrocution on Tuesday while taking a bath near a hand pump in the village. 

The student was identified as Shanal Ali, a resident of Hardia village under the jurisdiction of Town police station. Ali stayed at the school hostel in Anand Nagar. His grandfather Nazir Hussain lodged an FIR against the school director and hostel in-charge, alleging neglect on their part. 

MCI meet

Patna: The Medical Council of India, in its executive committee meeting, on Tuesday pointed out various deficiencies, including inadequate infrastructure, at the Patna Medical College to run the MBBS course.

Bribery

Patna: Ram Kumar, the programme officer of MGNREGA in Jamui, was arrested by a vigilance bureau team for allegedly accepting Rs 36,000 bribe from one Yogendra Mandal for clearing his bills. Ram would be produced before a special vigilance court after interrogation on Wednesday. 

Theft 

Patna: Two men on a bike snatched Rs 2 lakh from a resident who had withdrawn the cash from State Bank of India, Sachivalaya, on Tuesday. A case has been registered. 

Protest

Patna: Jewellery shop owners in Rohtas observed a bandh and took out a silent procession on Tuesday to protest the attack on a trader from Amritsar in Sasaram on Monday. The victim is struggling for life in the hospital.

Health camp

Patna: Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living organised a free HIV testing and AIDS awareness camp at the Gai Ghat crossing on Tuesday. 

IT fellow

Patna: Information technology expert A.K. Nayak from the Indian Institute of Business Management, Patna, would be awarded a fellowship at a function in New Delhi on December 2 to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the Computer Society of India. 

FIR against Aamir

Muzaffarpur, Dec. 1: Additional chief judicial magistrate Ram Chandra Prasad ordered an FIR against actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao at Sadar police station today.

Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha, who filed the case for the actor's statement on intolerance, said the court has asked police to expedite the probe.

Factory MoU

Patna: Bihar Industries Association thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the railway minister for signing an MoU on Monday with multinational companies from US and France to set up an electric locomotive factory at Madhepura and a diesel locomotive factory at Marhaura in Chhapra.

Drug raid

Patna: The health department has decided to conduct surprise raids at medical stores across the state after coming across a business of fake and expired drugs thriving in Patna during recent raids. The department has directed the district magistrates concerned to constitute the teams.

Exam fraud

Chhapra: A constable at Kharagpur in Munger was arrested on Tuesday for impersonation at an examination for selection of constables.
