Arrest over assault

Patna: Pawan Kumar, a top administrator of Darshan Vihar Patna Central School, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a Class V student.

The girl, a resident of the Mehendiganj area in Patna City, said Pawan had taken her to an empty room of the school during the class hours and had sexually assaulted her. SSP Vikas Vaibhav said more details were being collected.

Protection

Chhapra: Jai Prakash University finance officer Raj Kishore Prasad Sinha has requested the Saran range deputy inspector-general and superintendent of police (SP) for security for alleged pressurisation by higher officials of the university in some financial matters. SP Satya Veer Singh said security arrangements would be made.

E-governance

Chhapra: E-governance will shortly be introduced at Chhapra Nagar Parishad. A proposal has been sent to the urban development department under Atal Mission for Renovation and Urban Transformation.

One killed

Chhapra: One Rahul Kumar (20) of Rahar Diara Bind Toli was stabbed to death on Monday night by one Mahesh Rai. Mahesh was arrested later and sent to jail.

Funds attack

Patna: Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh on Tuesday asked chief minister Nitish Kumar about the whereabouts of the World Bank funds for rehabilitation of Kosi flood victims.

Ashok slur

Patna: State Congress president Ashok Choudhary on Tuesday claimed that despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's effort to woo the electorates, the people of Bihar have rejected the BJP.

Jab at Cong

Patna: BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav on Tuesday said the Congress's withholding a special package during the UPA regime was to blame for Bihar's condition.

Electrocution

Munger: A bidi vendor, Gopal Gupta (35), and his wife died of electrocution at their home at Sono Bazar in Jamui district on Tuesday morning.
