Senior police shuffle

Patna: The state government on Tuesday transferred four deputy superintendents of police. According to a notification issued by the home department, Raman Kumar Choudhary has been made DSP (headquarters) in Patna while Jitendra Pandey would join as DSP (headquarters) in Rohtas district.

Devendra Narain Singh, Sunil Kumar and Rakesh Kumar have been posted as DSP (headquarters) in Bhagalpur, Aurangabad and Sitamarhi districts, respectively. Mithilesh Prasad, DSP, BMP's 10th battalion, has been given additional charge of BMP's 16th battalion.

Detention

Patna: The Lakhisarai police have detained Samajwadi Party candidate from Suryagarha, Ramanuj, for interrogation. Police said Ramanuj was taken into custody on the directive of the district magistrate-cum-returning officer after a complaint was lodged against the former with the district administration.

Hospital fire

Patna: The sixth floor of the Paras HMRI Hospital caught fire on Tuesday around 12noon. No casualties were reported as none of the patients was housed on the floor where the incident occurred.

Ceremony

Patna: AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies will organise a programme on October 8 to mark its 51st foundation day. Bishop Scott Girls' School organised a programme to mark its foundation day on Tuesday. School principal Monica Dutta spoke about the achievements of the school.

Charity

Patna: Lions Club of Patna organised a programme on Tuesday in which notebooks and dictionaries were distributed among poor school students. The club members also took part in a plantation programme on this occasion in Kankerbagh.

PMCH notice

Patna: A high court single bench of Justice A.K. Tripathi on Tuesday directed chief secretary and principal secretary, health, to file a reply by November 3, in connection with the case related to certain courses being offered at the Patna Medical College and Hospital without being recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Land disputes

Patna: A division bench of acting Chief Justice I.A. Ansari and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on Tuesday directed the state government to dispose of cases related to land and property disputes. They were headring a PIL filed by on Dhirendra Kumar.

HC job order

Patna: Patna high court on Tuesday directed the state government to restore the services of 3,800 panchayat rozgar sevaks, whose services were terminated in July this year. A single judge bench of justice Mihir Kumar Jha while hearing a PIL filed by one Rupesh Kumar Jha passed the order.

Fake notes

Bettiah: Police on Tuesday nabbed one Surendra Prasad of Bairiya and seized fake currency notes of face value Rs 50,000 from his possession.

Beef remark

Patna: Former MLC Ramesh Prasad Singh on Tuesday filed a complaint case in the chief judicial court against former chief minister Lalu Prasad in connection with his statement that Hindus, too, eat beef.

Dhumal barb

Chhapra: JDU candidate from Ekma Assembly constituency Manoranjan Singh, better known as Dhumal Singh, on Tuesday accused Pappu Yadav of playing into the hands of the BJP and said the Madhepura MP should resign.

Jail rebels

Muzaffarpur: The jail administration has put a blanket ban on meeting with rebels languishing in the Khudiram Bose Central Jail for one month on Tuesday. The Election Commission had directed the jail authorities to keep strict vigil on Maoists locked up in the jail.
