Civic order from HC
Patna: The high court division bench of acting Chief Justice I.A. Ansari and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on Wednesday directed Patna Municipal Corporation to remove encroachment and clear stagnant water from Indira Lane in the Jakkanpur area.
The court also directed the civic body to ensure regular fogging in the area.
Training
Patna: Around 28 rural women are undergoing training at a programme organised by Punjab National Bank under the aegis of PNB Rural Self-employment Training Institute, Patna.
Ruckus
Patna: Tension erupted at Saguna Mor area when a group of men created a ruckus at a restaurant late on Wednesday evening. The group got into a fight with some customers and then smashed windscreens of some vehicles.
Gang held
Gaya: Police on Wednesday held two members of an inter-state criminal gang involved in theft of cash, laptops, ornaments, cellphones and other items by prying open shop shutters in the Gaya town since July this year. Police recovered five LCD, a country-made pistol and three cellphones among other stolen items.
Sentence
Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Devraj Tripathi on Wednesday sentenced six persons to life imprisonment for the murder of one Madhusudan Singh in December 2007.
Blast bail for MLA
Patna: The high court on Wednesday granted bail to Tarai JDU MLA Sunil Pandey in connection with the Ara blast case.
The court of Justice P.K. Jha observed that prima facie the MLA was not involved in the court blast in which an undertrial, Lambu Sharma, had escaped. Pandey had been accused of facilitating Sharma’s escape.
RJD face
Motihari: Confusion is prevailing in East Champaran district over the RJD candidate following contradictory claims by leaders Vinod Shrivastava and Mani Bhushan Shrivastava, who has been already named in the list of official candidates, on being allotted the party symbol.
Killers held
Gopalganj: Two contract killers, Amit Kumar and Sandip Das, were arrested on Wednesday from Sidhwania village. Police recovered a foreign-made pistol, seven cartridges, one dagger and a bike from them.
LJP dispute
Patna: Anil Kumar Sadhu, the former president of Bihar state Dalit Sena and son-in-law of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, on Wednesday said he held no grudge against the party chief or his son, Chirag.
Arrest
Patna: Four persons involved in loot cases in and around Patna were arrested from the Digha police station area on Wednesday. The group mostly used to target employees working in financial institutions.
Anant appeal
Patna: Former JDU MLA Anant Singh on Wednesday filed petitions in different courts of the Patna civil court, seeking permission for filing nomination paper before sub-divisional magistrate (Barh) on October 7 for the polls in Mokama constituency.
Lalu case
Patna: Retired additional district and sessions judge Binda Pathak on Wednesday filed a case against former chief minister Lalu Prasad in the chief judicial magistrate’s court. The complainant pleaded that forward caste people are apprehensive for their life and property following the RJD chief’s election meeting in Raghopur.
