Tough talk against squatters
• PATNA: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Abhishek Singh on Tuesday held a meeting with all stakeholders of the Mauryalok Complex where it was decided that encroachment inside the campus would be dealt with an iron hand. The members of the complex raised concerns over lack of proper toilets, drinking water and parking facilities. PMC commissioner Singh promised to look into their demands. Singh said measures would be taken to help the complex regain its lost glory.
Bachcha probe
• PATNA: The Enforcement Directorate is set to quiz Bachcha Rai and Lalkeshwar Prasad, accused in the Bihar Intermediate toppers scam. The ED would initiate the process of confiscating their property after preliminary interrogation. Rai and Lalkeshwar were produced before the special vigilance court on Tuesday.
• PATNA: Patna police have registered a case under Section 387 of the IPC against two Beur jail inmates, Ranjit alias Matiya and Vicky alias Vicky Mobile, for demanding Rs 25 lakh from a trader.
Suicide attempt
• MUZAFFARPUR: An undertrial, Uday Kumar Singh, allegedly tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat with a blade inside the Khudiram Bose memorial central jail at Muzaffarpur. He was arrested four years ago on the charge of killing his wife.
Class IX boy held
• MOTIHARI: A Class IX student of a public school has been taken in custody for allegedly trying to extort money from Narkatiaganj block development officer Manoj Kumar over phone by posing as a CBI inspector.
