Patna: The government has approved the proposal for voluntary retirement of two IAS officers, including development commissioner Shishir Sinha, on Saturday.

Sinha, a 1981 batch IAS officer, is Dr C.P. Thakur's son-in-law and has cited personal reasons for seeking voluntary retirement. He was appointed development commissioner after S.K. Negi was given voluntary retirement on September 30, 2015.

Thakur had courted controversy after he called erstwhile Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Mukhiya a social reformer. Sinha, sources said, is tipped to be Bihar Public Service Commission chairman.

Chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh has been given additional charge as development commissioner.

Mohammad Naushad Yusuf, posted as Begusarai district magistrate, has also been granted voluntary retirement. He is also tipped to be made member of the BPSC.
