Patna, Nov. 2: Eight days after 21-year-old Arya committed suicide by hanging herself in her flat at Laxmi Apartment under the Patrakar Nagar police station, her former boyfriend today surrendered before the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM).
Harsh, the prime accused in the suicide note of Arya, appealed for bail. But CJM Surendra Pratap Singh rejected his plea and forwarded him to Fulwari prison.
Two others — Pushkar and Praveen — arrested in connection with the suicide are languishing in the same prison.
Praveen, an accused featuring in Arya’s eight-page suicide note, had surrendered before the CJM court on October 30. Two days later, the police arrested Pushkar, another accused, from Lakhisarai district.
A source said the police have petitioned the court to take the trio on remand.
Arya held six persons, including Harsh, Pushkar, Praveen, Sitanshu Vineet, Jyoti Ranjan and Stuti, responsible for her death in her suicide note. Stuti was arrested on the day Arya committed suicide.
With Harsh, Stuti, Pushkar and Praveen behind the bars, only two accused in the case are to be arrested. They are Sitanshu Vineet and Jyoti Ranjan.
Ayra hanged herself in one of the rooms of her flat (A-408) in Laxmi Apartment around 2pm on October 25.
The suicide note found by Arya’s mother near her body portrayed a tale of torture in the hands of her former lover, Harsh.
Arya was pursuing MBA from the Madurai Kamraj University under its distance-learning programme. Anshumali, the elder brother of Arya, is an MBA student in Chennai.
Arya claimed in her suicide note that she used to go the house of her friend Dipika when she was in Intermediate. She fell in love with Dipika’s brother, Harsh. They went around for three years till she learnt Harsh was a criminal.
The suicide note read that she had come to know about the real face of Harsh from his friend, Pushkar alias Jai Shankar. Harsh’s cousin Pankaj was a criminal and used to assist Harsh in criminal activities, the note read.
Arya, in her letter, stated that Harsh and his friends used to torture her physically and mentally. They threatened her with morphing her picture and posting it on websites.
With Arya’s parents working, some of the accused used to come down to her home in their absence. They used beat her up and sexually assault her, Arya claimed in her note.
Sitanshu Vineet and his sister Stuti, friends of Harsh, used to live in flat number 401 of the same apartment. “Their flat is opposite to ours. They used to keep an eye on me always and inform Harsh about me,” the suicide note read.
