Bonded labour

Patna: The National Human Rights Commission on Friday organised a workshop on elimination of bonded labour in collaboration with the Bihar government.

Chaired by panel member Justice D. Murugesan, the workshop aimed at familiarising and sensitising district magistrates, sub-divisional magistrates, labour officers and members of vigilance committees, brick kilns, stone-crushing and other related industries in identification, release and rehabilitation of bonded labourers under the provisions of Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, and other laws.

Muzaffarpur: Six policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were injured in stone-pelting in Kamra locality of the north Bihar town on Friday following a clash between supporters of a religious preacher and the police over a disputed land.

Mahabodhi

Gaya: The government has reconstituted a committee to look after the maintenance and immovable assets of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara in Bodhgaya. The committee’s tenure has been fixed for three years with effect from July 17, 2017, the home department said on Friday.

Gaya: A girl has accused Vivek Kumar, a police constable posted in Jharkhand, of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage in an FIR lodged at woman police station in Gaya.
