The digital display board at Patna Sahib railway station has gone blank, inconveniencing thousands of passengers.

Sources said the board has been defunct for the past two months.

“It is difficult to queue up before the enquiry counter for even basic details. We are facing the problem for two months now,” said Patna City resident Deepak.

The station is an important one owing to its proximity to Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib gurdwara. The shrine is located at a distance of 1.5km from the station. Jehanabad resident Kamaljit Singh, a devotee, said: “Expected time of arrival or departure and the platform numbers concerned are basic information that should be provided to passengers.”

The indicators which displays the position of the compartments on platform number 2, are also defunct. “For old people like us, the indicators help us reach the bogies in advance,” said sexagenarian Hemant Kumar.

When asked about the problem, stationmaster J.N. Paswan said: “I am not authorised to speak on it.”

However, repeated calls to divisional railway manager L.M. Jha went unanswered.

East Central Railway chief public relations officer Amitabh Prabhakar said: “The railway is looking into the matter and the problem would be solved as soon as possible.”
