Board exam ends with fewer expulsions

Patna: The Intermediate examination being conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) ended on Friday.

On the last day of examination, arts students took the home science examination, while commerce students took economics test. Both the examinations were held at the first seating.

For home science 1,63,818 students appeared for the test, while 19,102 students appeared for the economics test. On the last day of examination only three students were expelled for use of unfair means from Jehanabad, Siwan and Madhubani districts.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor visited examination centres to take stock of the examinations. Around 12,07,986 students appeared for the Intermediate examination that had commenced on February 6. Out of the total students appearing for the boards, 7,19,846 were boys and 4,88,130 girls.

During the 10-day examination this year, 985 students were expelled for use of unfair means. Apart from expulsion, 25 impersonators were found taking the examination for other candidates. The board also took action against three invigilators for negligence of duty.

Kishor thanked district magistrates (DMs), SPs, block education officers and other officials for the smooth conduct of examination. Kishor had formed a WhatsApp group with members such as DMs and senior officials who were part of examination process. Kishor said: "The WhatsApp group helped in coordinating with other officials to conduct a smooth examination."
