Chhapra, Aug. 9: Residents of several villages under Manjhi block today staged a blockade on National Highway 19 to protest against unavailability of power in their hamlets.

The villagers, who blocked the highway for seven hours from 6am, demanded restoration of power supply.

Sadar sub-divisional officer Vinay Pandey and deputy superintendent of police Kailash Prasad rushed to the spot with the electricity department officials to pacify the villagers. According to the agreement arrived at between the electricity department and the villagers, power supply would be restored within 60 days.
