Blaze on tracks

The gutted interiors of one of the three bogies of the Ranchi-bound Jan Shatabdi Express that caught fire while waiting on platform number 8 of Patna Junction early on Saturday. An electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire. Government Railway Police officers said one coach was completely gutted while two others were partially damaged in the blaze that was detected around 2.30am. Passengers waiting on the platform were asked to vacate it immediately as a precautionary measure. Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. There was no report of any injury or death in the incident. An official posted at Danapur divisional railway office said a probe had been ordered to ascertain the actual reason behind the blaze.
