Patna, Nov. 9: Private Schools and Children’s Welfare Association members today observed “Black Day” and decided not to get them- selves registered with the state government.
Shamael Ahmad, the president of the association, said: “Schools affiliated with us wore black ribbons today. We will continue with the agitation as decided on October 16.”
A state-level convention of private schools was organised on October 16. The private schools had decided to go on a strike from November 11 under the banner of Co-ordination Committee of Public School Associations of Bihar to protest against the directive to get registered with the state government by November 12.
On November 6, however, seven schools under the Christian Educational Minority Society had decided to pull out of the agitation. Around 150 private institutions under the banner of Association of Independent Schools of Bihar and 19 under Muslim Educational Welfare Association decided to pull out of the proposed two-day strike yesterday.
Private Schools and Children’s Welfare Association, however, has decided to continue with its agitation.
“We will continue with the agitation as decided on October 16. No association had the right to make separate decision regarding the protest against registration once it was decided under the banner of the Co-ordination Committee of Public School Associations of Bihar,” said Ahmad.
He added: “The association will take out a march on November 10. It will start from SK Memorial Hall and end at Kargil Chowk. The officials would fast during the day. On November 11, we will assemble at Patliputra Ashok. At 12noon, we would hand over a memorandum to the governor and the chief minister.”
