BJP patriarch and founder member of the party late Kailashpati Mishra's daughter-in-law Dilmani Devi joined the JDU on Saturday.

Making the switch, she levelled allegations on the BJP for allegedly insulting her father-in-law.

Dilmani had joined the party on Friday night at chief minister Nitish Kumar's 7 Circular Road residence but on Saturday she took the membership in the presence of JDU state unit president Bashishtha Narayan Singh to make it public.

Dilmani, the sitting MLA from Bhrampur Assembly constituency in Buxar district, had been denied a ticket from the BJP, which allegedly led her to quit the party. She accused senior BJP leaders of insulting her and her father-in-law.

A few days back, the BJP's sitting MLA from Raghunathpur Assembly constituency, Vikram Kunwar, had joined the JDU after he was denied a ticket from the BJP.

In this year's Assembly elections, the BJP has fielded Rajya Sabha member Dr C.P. Thakur's son Vivek Thakur from Bhrampur. Manoj Singh has got the ticket from Raghunathpur in Siwan district.

Explaining the reason for leaving the BJP, Dilmani said: "After the death of my babuji (Kailashpati Mishra), senior BJP leaders told me not to worry. When I got news I am being denied a ticket. I visited Radha Mohan Singh's house, where he told me he couldn't do anything because even Sukhda Pandey has been denied a ticket. He asked me to meet Ashwini Choubey who asked me to meet Ravi Shankar Prasad, who then asked me to meet Bhupender Yadav and then he also asked me to meet Ananth Kumar. For five continuous days, I was humiliated."

Dilmani said there was a time when these leaders used to crowd at her house to touch the feet of her father-in-law. "When he (Kailashpati) was alive, these BJP leaders used to come to our house to touch his feet and the same leaders have insulted me," added Dilmani.

She also praised Nitish and said she will work with the JDU to expose the BJP. Bashishtha welcomed her and attacked the BJP for humiliating old guards of the party.
