Patna: The BJP state unit, with an eye on the 2019 general election, is grooming a group of about 30 young leaders to put forth the party's views on different issues on various platforms.
The first step in this direction was taken during the visit of party national spokesperson Sambit Patra, who came to Patna on Sunday and returned on Monday, to the state during which he had an interactive session with these young leaders.
"These young leaders were briefed about the major achievements of our government at the Centre and also about the party's stand on different issues which are being debated at the national level ahead of the coming general election," a BJP functionary told The Telegraph.
He said the selection of these young leaders, many of whom are from the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the party, was done on the basis of their performance and also personal qualities. "Things like activity on social media, wittiness, way of presenting facts and related aspects were taken into account while selecting the young leaders for presenting party's side," said the BJP functionary.
These young leaders have been tasked to present the party's stand on different issues on various platforms, including their participation in panel discussion. Also, special emphasis has been laid on mannerism and the youths have been asked to maintain their cool and not get provoked while presenting their side before people and the opposition camp, respectively.
Sharing experience about the interactive session with Sambit Patra, who is a well-known face on TV channels, one of the participants said: "His clarity of thought and style of presentation were outstanding. I got a lot of information during the session."
It is not that these young BJP leaders would be left on their own after their one-off interaction with the national spokesperson, rather they will be called for similar sessions in future as well in which senior leaders will guide them on different issues.
