Six held for lorry loot

Muzaffarpur, April 16: District police on Thursday arrested six criminals involved in looting lorries along National Highways from Kashirampur village under the jurisdiction of Bochahan police station.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ranjit Kumar Mishra said the police laid a trap and arrested the youths from Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and East Champaran districts along with an SUV. Four pistols, nine cartridges, five cellphones and a packet of sleeping pills were recovered. The pill was used to make lorry drivers and cleaners drowsy before they were overpowered, the SSP said.

Woman attack

 Munger: A 25-year-old married woman, Indira Devi ofMohalia tola under Barhat police station in Jamui district, was seriously injured whenher brother-in-law attacked her with an axe on Thursday morning. The woman has been admitted to a hospital in Jamui. No arrests have been made yet.

Irregularities

 Munger: Munger divisional commissioner Sunil Kumar Singh has written to the planning and development department recommending a vigilance inquiry into irregularities in a streetlight scheme in Begusarai district. Singh also requested the government to suspend two former district planning officers in Begusarai district for gross financial irregularities.
