Relief for PMC official
Patna: The high court on Tuesday granted interim relief to an executive engineer of Patna Municipal Corporation, Lallan Prasad Singh, against whom the vigilance investigation bureau lodged an FIR in a disproportionate assets case.
The vigilance sleuths had raided the residence of Singh on December 3 and unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 2.05 crore from him. A division bench on Tuesday directed the vigilance investigation bureau to file a reply before the court by December 19 after Singh presented the sleuths his explanation.
Arrest
Patna: Two men, suspected to be arms suppliers, were arrested in Patna on Tuesday. Police recovered three countrymade pistols, a cartridge and a motorbike from them. In another case, police caught one Guddu Kumar from the Digha police station area after a tip-off.

Patna: A division bench of the high court on Tuesday directed Patna Municipal Corporation to shut down all unlicenced meat shops in the city within three weeks.

Patna, Dec. 9: Police are searching for constable Jitender Kumar, who is on the run, after unidentified men snatched his service revolver late last night near the Beur Mor.

EC blow
Patna: The state election commission on Tuesday cancelled the election of Sasaram ward councillor Ravi Shankar Kumar for hiding information about his third child. According to the commission’s order any person having more than two children after April 2008 was not eligible to contest poll of local bodies.

Patna (PTI): The state government on Tuesday decided to bring all Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families in Bihar under the National Food Security Act with the exception of those who pay income tax or are government employees.
