Police bust sex racket, 5 in net

Patna: Police busted a sex racket and arrested five persons, including deputy director of industries department Anand Kumar Vardhan, from a beauty parlour in the Boring Road locality on Monday.

The police said two girls allegedly involved in the racket were also arrested from the parlour. The police also said the beauty parlour located in the premises of Verma Palace was involved in many unlawful activities for long.

Chargesheet against 10

Patna: Special NIA court judge Anil Kumar Singh on Monday took cognisance against ten people, including the alleged mastermind of Patna serial blasts Haider Ali. The National Investigation Agency had filed a chargesheet against the suspected members of the Students’ Islamic Movement of India activists on August 22.

Health camps

Patna: Ruban Emergency Hospital has been organising health awareness camps in rural areas. Hospital sources said on Monday so far 3,800 people have been examined in 52 such camps this year.

Mission

Patna: Disabled sports and welfare academy has nominated Purnima Skhekhar Singh as the chairman of an adventure event christened Mission Impossible Biscomaun Adventure. As per the academy media note, differently abled person would climb down from the Biscomaun building using ropes. The date of the event has yet not been finalised.

Accounts

Patna: In a bid to achieve the aim of Jan Dhan Yojana, which entails financial inclusion of all, the Punjab National Bank on Monday organised special camps for opening accounts of people. A bank press note said 550 such camps were organised across Bihar and Jharkhand today in which over 30,000 new bank accounts were opened.

Hindi contest

Patna: The first round of Hindi singing competition was organised by Central Bank of India on Monday. A bank press note said the event was part of Hindi month celebration by the bank which commenced on August 14.

Power meet

Patna: A special conference of Bihar Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union has been convened to discuss the issue related to employees working with different franchise companies. The said conference would be held at Patna on September 7.

Training

Munger: Three hundred newly recruited policemen in the Munger district are undergoing seven-day Yoga training at the New Police Line. The training programme got underway on Monday. Munger SP Varun Kumar Sinha inaugurated the training programme.

Arrest

Patna: A notorious gangster of East Champaran, Sunil Singh, was arrested from Delhi on Monday for his alleged involvement in the murder of two persons at Motihari past fortnight. Sources in the police headquarters said that Singh had escaped to the national capital after committing the crime on August 8. Police said Singh, a resident of Motihari, is also facing charges of murder of a politician, advocate and a Maoist leader.
