Govt employees in vigilance net

Patna: Vigilance officers on Tuesday nabbed two government officials — a junior engineer and the principal of a government educational institution — while they were allegedly taking bribe.

Electricity department junior engineer Shambhu Prasad, posted in Bodhgaya, was arrested while he accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from one Shashi Shekhar Singh for providing power connection to his transformer-assembling unit.

The principal of Madhepura Education Training Centre, Pradip Kumar Singh, was nabbed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from one Tarun Kumar, a trainee in institution. The principal had allegedly demanded a bribe for promoting the trainee.

Plan to build high schools

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation would construct 4,500 high school buildings in the next five years. He was speaking at a function organised to mark the third foundation day of the corporation.

Modi attack

Patna: Congress state president Ashok Choudhary on Tuesday accused Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi of trying to polarise people. Choudhary also accused Modi of trying to project the image that Gujarat had witnessed development only during his tenure.

BJP warning

Patna: BJP state unit spokesperson Suresh Rungta on Tuesday warned JD(U) and RJD leaders to avoid issuing statements on issues of personal religious faith of any person. He claimed that leaders of both the parties were trying to paint the visit of BJP leader Amit Shah to Ayodhya with communal colour.

Credit training

Patna: The Muzaffarpur zonal office of Bank of India has organised a credit-training programme for newly appointed branch managers. The purpose of organising this programme is to ensure that the bank achieves its credit target for the 2013-14 financial year.

Message service

Patna: Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour, will launch voice message services from August 5. An official on Tuesday said that farmers would benefit by this programme. All programme co-ordinators and specialists have been directed to provide five topical messages, which could be used for the proposed service.

Party session

Patna: Awadhesh Prasad Kushwaha-led Rahstriya Lok Samata Party would organise a three-day brainstorming-cum-training session for party workers. A party worker on Tuesday said the session would be held in Rajgir from July 18.

College body

Patna: Virendra Jha has been appointed the convener of the anti-ragging committee of Patna College. A college official on Tuesday said there would be seven more teachers in the committee. Principal Rash Bihari Singh would nominate them.
