Robbers loot three houses
Gopalganj: Robbers looted property worth lakhs from three houses at Sri Rampur village under the jurisdiction of Manjha police station in the district on Tuesday night.
The crime was committed in the houses of Vidya Sagar Shukla, Vinod Shukla and Jaleshwar Sharma. The criminals held the house owners at gunpoint before looting the property. The criminals opened six round fires to terrorise the owners. FIRs have been lodged by the house owners and investigating is on.
SuMo Chhath jab at Nitish
Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday criticised chief minister Nitish Kumar claiming that despite being in charge of urban development department he didn’t convene any meeting to review the preparations for Chhath. Modi also demanded setting up of a Chhath authority to look after the preparations at the ghats.

Murder plot
Gopalganj: One Awadhesh Mahto of Bangra village under the jurisdiction of Baikunthpur police station was strangulated to death on Tuesday night allegedly by his friends. Police on Wednesday recovered Mahto’s body from Fazilapur village. Dulari Devi, the wife of Awadhesh Mahto, lodged an FIR against eight persons of Faizulapur village alleging that they called her husband on Tuesday night and killed him.
Condolence
Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday mourned the death of former minister and socialist leader Muneshwar Prasad Singh. The chief minister recalled the contribution of the departed soul in the freedom struggle and his active participation in the Quit India Movement. Nitish also announced that the last rites of Singh would be performed with state honour.
Masters degree
Patna: The Indian Institute of Health Education and Research, Beur, Patna will start a masters degree programme in special education and rehabilitation sciences. Sources said the state has already approved for the course and affiliation of Magadh University has been accorded for the same. After the approval of the Rehabilitation Council of India, the courses shall start from the next academic session.
New clinic
Patna: Jiva Ayurveda Clinic opened its branch in the city on Wednesday. Sources said the clinic specialises in treating diseases like hypertension, diabetes, migraine and others.
Call for action
Patna: Congress on Wednesday urged chief minister Nitish Kumar to rein in rural works minister Bhim Singh. Party spokesperson Uma Kant Singh said Bhim Singh’s statement that Congress should not have criticised his department for not sending proposals to the Centre for rural roads was uncalled for.

Patna: A mega health camp would be organised at Bihiya in Bhojpur district on January 12.
