Three dead in accident

Dehri-on-sone (PTI): Three persons, including a woman, were killed when a speeding motorcycle dashed against a stationary truck near Katar village Rohtas in the small hours of Wednesday, police said.

The trio were on a motorcycle on way to Sujanpur village from Dehri when they met with an accident owing to the thick fog. They died on the spot. The victims were identified as Dharmendra Kumar (35), Om Prakash (28) and Lalsa Kumari (38).

Nitish visits native village

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday visited his native village Kalyanbigha in Nalanda district. He garlanded the statue of his late mother Parmeshwari Devi on the occasion of her death anniversary. Family members of the chief minister, including his elder brother Satish Kumar, and several JD(U) leaders accompanied him during the visit.

Smuggler held

Patna: An alleged arms smuggler was arrested on Wednesday from near the block office in Munger district. Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed Md. Javed and seized three automatic pistols and six magazines from his possession, superintendent of police Naveen Chandra Jha said. A native of Khagaria district, the accused was being interrogated.

Social cause

Patna: NTPC Limited on Wednesday distributed blankets among slum dwellers in the city as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

Vehicle project

Patna: Team Ashwa of BIT Patna, a group of engineering students with a mission to fabricate an all terrain vehicle to participate in a prestigious student level racing event, is working hard to complete the project. BIT sources said on Wednesday the fabrication work was likely to be completed by January 20.

Modi urge

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday urged people to take an oath to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister in 2014.

Oath

Patna: Members of Indian Peoples’ Theatre Association on Wednesday took an oath to work against forces that were engaged in misinforming people taking help of different means.

English skills

Patna: Author Birbal Jha on Wednesday underlined the importance of English language. Jha is implementing two government projects to impart English language skills to poor children.

Theft FIR

Patna: An FIR has been lodged at Kankerbagh police station in connection with theft of a motorbike from the house of a journalist who is a resident of Lohianagar locality. Journalist A.K. Singh on Wednesday said the theft happened on Sunday night.

Conference

Patna: A conference hall has been constructed on the premises of East Central Railway at Mahendru Ghat. The railway sources said the conference hall can accommodate 150 people at a time.
