Daylong strike call

B>n Patna: Bihar Pradesh Mukhiya Mahasangh decided at a special gram sabha (meeting) that villages across the state would observe a bandh on January 8.

A press note on Sunday said the decision was taken in wake of the government’s failure to look into the points raised by the Mahasangh earlier.

Dal rally

B>n Patna: JD(U) leader Ranveer Nandan on Sunday urged party workers to start preparations for the February 16 Sankalp Rally in Patna. Nandan urged the leaders to ensure presence of party members in the rally to make it successful.

Oscar visit

B>n Patna: Union minister Oscar Fernandes would come to Patna on Monday to take part in several programmes. He would meet Congress workers at Sadaquat Ashram and take part in a programme of Old Boys Association of Karnataka Engineering Colleges.

Clean-up drive

B>n Patna: Congress leaders and workers undertook a sanitation drive on Fraser Road on Sunday. The leaders urged residents to be aware of the importance of sanitation.

Reservation

B>n Patna: Congress on Sunday urged the state government to provide reservation facilities for people belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe while issuing tenders for various government works.

Dealer shot at

B>n Sitamarhi (PTI): Dacoits shot dead a public distribution system dealer, Kishan Chaudhary, before looting cash and valuables from his house at Sisoria village on Saturday night. A case has been registered in this connection and raids were being carried out to nab the criminals.

Rebel killed

B>n Patna: A Maoist was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Jamui district on Sunday. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Tatkal

B>n Patna: District magistrate N. Saravana Kumar on Sunday announced the implementation of Tatkal scheme from January 15 for availing caste, income and residential certificates under the Right to Public Service Act.
