Four illicit liquor traders in net

Buxar: Police late on Wednesday night recovered around Rs 12 lakh and nabbed four traders of illicit liquor at a village under the jurisdiction of Itarhi police station in the district.

The police team, based on a tip-off, conducted raids at Jamuwar village. ATM cards, insurance documents and firearms were also seized during the raid.

Rape case deposition

Patna: Nine persons on Thursday deposed before a court to get their statement recorded in connection with the rape and subsequent murder of a seven-year-old girl in Phulwarisharif on March 9.

Spirit seizure

Bettiah: Nearly 11,000 litres of raw spirit worth around Rs 5 lakh was seized from a truck on the Bettiah-Chhapwa road on Thursday.

Currency racket

Motihari: A team of directorate of revenue intelligence picked up one Bhullu Miya in a case related to fake currency racket from Chhapra in the small hours of Thursday.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar mourned the death of BJP MLC Virkeshwar Prasad Singh.

Pre-poll arrests

Patna: A pre-poll drive against those involved in trade of illicit liquor has resulted in arrest of 615 persons and seizure of over 25 lakh litres of spirit so far.

Party switch

Patna: LJP leader Mohammed Ezaz Ahmed on Thursday resigned from the party and joined the Congress along with his supporters in presence of state party president Ashok Choudhary.
