Second division funds

Patna: Muslim and SC/ST students securing second division in their matriculation exams would receive Rs 10,000 as scholarship, announced chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday.

Till now, only students securing first division enjoyed the scholarship.

Patna: The district administration has planned to form a joint team with Patna Municipal Corporation officials to inspect sump houses to check their capacity of draining out accumulated water during monsoon.

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Choudhary Brijendra Kumar Rai on Thursday sentenced two men to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment for the death of a fellow villager in 2001.

Patna: Special CBI judge Vijay Kumar Srivastava on Thursday framed charges against 16 persons, associated with BSNL, accused of conspiring with private firms and presenting fake bills of Rs 9.96 lakh to the telecom company.

Death

Muzaffarpur: Bhagsavar Manjhi, an undertrial, was found hanging from a tree inside the Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail on Thursday morning. The body was sent for autopsy.
