Team probes IPS assault charges
Patna: A four-member team visited Kaimur on Thursday to probe the charges of sexual exploitation against IPS officer Pushkar Anand.
The probe team, headed by inspector-general Anupama Nilekar, recorded the statements of security guards and the driver of Anand, the former Kaimur superintendent of police (SP). The members of the team comprising Rajesh Kumar, Harpreet Kaur (both SPs) and Seema Kumari, a representative of an NGO, recorded the statement Pintu Kumar, the bodyguard of former Babhua sub-divisional police officer Nirmala Kumari, who is complainant in the case against then Kaimur SP Anand.
A member of the team said they would submit the report to director-general of police P.K. Thakur next week.
Protest march
Patna: Members of Jankalyan Parishad, an NGO, on Thursday took out a protest march to raise the issues of encroachment and traffic snarls in Patna. The participants demanded that the district administration and police take immediate steps to address the twin problems, a parishad press note said.
