Family of three found dead

Gaya: Police on Wednesday evening recovered the bodies of one Arvind Thakur, his wife and their five-year-old son from a house where they lived on rent, in Pachhati mohulla under Bodhgaya police station area. Prima facie, police said poisoning was the cause of death.

Thakur, originally from Dumri in Patna district, worked as a lab technician on contract at the Bodhgaya primary health centre.

The police have also recovered a suicide note from the room where the trio were found dead.

Pappu sends legal notice

? Patna: The RJD MP from Madhepura, Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, on Wednesday sent a legal notice through his advocate to BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi for allegedly calling him a criminal. Pappu has demanded an apology within seven days of receipt of the legal notice with the condition of Modi not repeating it. In the legal notice, Pappu has also stated he would file a defamation case, claiming damages of Rs 1 crore, if Modi did not apologise to him in public and withdrew the allegation.

Swift approval

Patna: Urban development and housing minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Wednesday that the department would give immediate approval to family pension and other matters recommended by the Patna Municipal Corporation. The announcement came at a function organised by the civic body's employees' union.

Member target

Patna: The women's wing of the state BJP launched a membership drive in Patna on Wednesday. The president, Sushma Sahu, said the wing has been given a target of enrolling 2.5 lakh members. Special camps would be organised in the districts to meet the target, she said.

Paddy jibe

Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav on Wednesday accused the government of being insensitive towards the cause of farmers. Referring to the recent protest of farmers in certain parts of the state over non-procurement of paddy, Yadav said the government was making false promises. Non-procurement of paddy was forcing the farmers to sell their produce at throwaway prices to middlemen, he added.

Land reforms

Patna: Revenue and land reforms minister Narendra Narayan Yadav on Wednesdayinaugurated the seventh round of training for circle officers regarding rules of land reforms. AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies is hosting the programme.

Giriraj promise

Patna: Giriraj Singh, the Union minister of state for micro, small and medium industries, on Wednesday said all help would be provided to Bihar for developing small industries during an interaction with a delegation of Bihar Industries Association.

Congress pat

Patna: The Congress on Wednesday thanked chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for his government's decision to allow free-hold ownership of housing board property.

Bank oath

Munger: UCO Bank in Munger celebrated its foundation day on Tuesday with an oath-taking ceremony under the leadership of chief manager Alekh Kumbhar. Other officials of the bank also participated in the ceremony.
