Patna, Feb. 17: Bhojpuri film actor Manoj Tiwari has composed a song and dedicated it to skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his boys.
On the concluding day of the three-day programme organised by Foundation for Media, Culture and Cinema Awareness (FMCCA) during golden the jubilee celebration of Bhojpuri cinema at SK Memorial Hall, Manoj entertained the audience with this song.
The song goes De lapeta hind ka beta, gada ho balla, desh ka sapna, World Cup apna, captivated thousands of spectators who had come to see the performance of Bhojpuri stars like Ravi Kissen, Malini Awasthi and Devi.
Talking to The Telegraph, Manoj said: “I am a fan of Dhoni and know him for the past 12 years even before he was selected for the Indian team. Whenever we meet he loves to listen to my songs, especially Kanwa me shobhe bali, juda me laga ke jaili. The reason for writing and singing this song is to encourage the Indian cricketers so that they can bring the World Cup back to India. The best wishes of more than 100 crore people are with the Indian team.”
He said: “There are people who worship cricket and Dhoni is highly regarded. They love and respect the Team India players a lot. A win or loss for Team India affects the regular life of these people. Through this song I want to send a message to Dhoni to play like god Hanuman.”
He said: “My lyrics De lapeta, hind ka beta symbolises the way Dhoni plays, his style of hitting sixes.”
Tiwari said: “Every person in the country wants India to win this World Cup and the way Dhoni’s team thrashed Australia and New Zealand in the practice game we want them to thrash all participating teams in the real game. The win in the practice game will boost the morale of the Indian team.”
Tiwari said: “Before I became a Bhojpuri singer, I was a cricketer and had represented Banaras Hindu University at the zonal level and was a good allrounder.”
Bhojpuri cine star Ravi Kissen also conveyed his best wishes to the Indian team. He performed on the song He ganga mayya tohe piyari chadhaibo and Ganga kinare mora gaon.
Bhojpuri singer Devi performed with her trademark male voice. All the stars present appreciated the initiative taken by FMCCA to make the show a success.
