Students of one school found the best in everything, even waste. Some displayed their karate chops to bag medals and return home, errr... school. Smita Kumar reports on the action

Notre Dame Academy

Event: Best out of waste

Duration: An hour and a half

Special attraction: Class III students learnt ways to turn waste material into something useful and beautiful. Paper bags were made from old newspapers, thermocol glasses transformed into flowers with green paper for leaves and straws for stalks. Rupa and Sharmila of the institute’s Parents-Teachers’ Association coordinated the programme.

Don Bosco Academy

Event: Inter-school Shito Ryu Karate Championship, 2014

Duration: Daylong

Special attraction: Organised by the Institute of Martial Arts, the competition was won by St Joseph’s Convent High School, Jethuli. The champions bagged 15 gold medals. The next position went to St Joseph’s Convent High School, St Michael’s High School and Don Bosco Academy, all of which won 14 gold medals each.
