Patna: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) swayamsevaks can be battle ready in two to three days "if the country needs" them "and the Constitution and laws permit," RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat declared on Sunday.
"Preparing an army takes six to seven months, but we (RSS) will be ready in two to three days. This is our capability and discipline that sets us apart," the RSS sarsanghchalak added. "Ours is not a military or paramilitary organisation, but our discipline is just like them."
He was addressing an RSS meeting in Muzaffarpur, around 72km north of Patna.
He claimed that RSS volunteers had stood fast in Sikkim till the army reached there when China had attacked in 1962 and police as well as administrative officials had fled the area.
Bhagwat has been in Bihar since February 6.
He reached Patna later on Sunday, and addressed a meeting in Rajendra Nagar.
Exhorting the members and volunteers to "come to shakha daily," he asked them to "enlist one new RSS member every year".
Mocking at speculations over his 10-day Bihar visit, Bhagwat said: "Some people are saying that I am here for the 2019 general elections, but I have come here for the RSS. I keep roaming across the country for the RSS' expansion."
