Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has decided not to hire the services of education department officials in bar coding of matriculation and Intermediate copies this year.

Government officials in the rank of additional district magistrates from departments, leaving aside education department, will be appointed as chief secrecy officers in all 38 districts. Six deputy secrecy officers who will be from other departments will assist the chief secrecy officers.

The board has decided to keep away education department officials to keep the evaluation process of matriculation and Intermediate copies a secret. To bring transparency to the process, the board has decided to carry out the entire bar-coding process under the surveillance of closed-circuit television cameras.

Officials carrying out bar coding of matriculation and Intermediate papers will be provided entry at the office only with identity cards.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said: "The board this year has taken extra measures to ensure transparency in the entire evaluation process of matriculation and Intermediate copies."

Unlike last year when answer papers had two sheets for bar coding, which students had to carry out, this year there will be three sheets. The left and right sheets have to be filled by the students, while evaluators will fill the centre.

The three sheets will have similar identical bar code stickers.
