Patna, Dec. 18: Renu Mishra and Nikita Dev Singh today had a blast at the alumni meet of Notre Dame Academy. That they are separated by around three decades hardly mattered.

Renu is one of the earliest batch members (1970) of the school, while 19-year-old Nikita is a recent passout. She left the school in 2010.

“I am a member of the school’s third batch, so I am one of the senior most alumnae here. Not only did I study here, I also taught here for a year. What makes my association more special is my daughters have studied here and now, my granddaughter — Anshu Rao Menon — studies in Class I. The school has become a part of our family tradition,” said Renu with a smile.

Notre Dame is a family tradition not just for Renu but for Nikita, too. Her parents, Anand Dev Singh and Ragini Singh, are also Notre Dame alumni. Nikita’s two siblings are still in Notre Dame.

“My whole family is an alumni of Notre Dame Academy. My eldest daughter Nikita has left school but my two other daughters are still studying here,” said Anand, clearly enjoying himself with his family and other old students.

Alumni association president Usha Singh, secretary Sumita Singh, treasurer Ranjana Singh and joint treasurers Archana and Ragini Singh extended a warm welcome to the alumni, who shook a leg to peppy Bollywood numbers played by a jockey.

Principal Sister Mary Tessy said: “It is a great moment for the school to have its old students back on campus. They are settled in different places but on this day, they always come together to make this day special.”
