Patna, Feb. 16: There is a reason for the tiny tots and their mothers to be happy about. A baby show, Super Baby of Patna, would be organised at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium on February 26.
The event would comprise several fun-filled activities to create health awareness among the parents about their children.
Addressing a news meet today, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, the medical director of non-government organisation Pahal, said: “It has been witnessed in the recent past that children are suffering from obesity. They also suffer from vitamin D3 deficiency. Children nowadays eat a lot of junk food and do not take part in outdoor games. As these children are less exposed to sunlight, they suffer from a deficiency of vitamin D3.”
He added: “The idea behind the show is to ‘Learn with Fun’. A ramp show will be organised for kids between 1 and 2 years. The mothers, with their little ones, will walk the ramp as well. The panel of judges will quiz them on health matters. Keeping in mind the skill development of children, a baby race has been incorporated. It is also meant for kids between 1 and 2 years.”
Tejaswi added: “An appeal would be made to the parents to take out their children in sunlight daily. Playgrounds should be made available for the children. Awareness programmes related to breastfeeding and immunisation, and body mass index test would be conducted at the event. The winners’ names would appear on superbabyindia.com and www.eventandexpo.in.
The news meet was attended by Vishal Gupta, nutrition officer of a health drink major, Lalit Kumar Prabhakar, managing director of a coaching centre, and Jay Prakash Sinha, managing director of an advertising company.
Gupta said: “The registration charge for the event is Rs 200 and every participant would be getting gifts. The panel of judges would include a team of paediatricians. Events to inculcate team spirit among the children have been planned.”
