Patna, Jan. 9: To guide students aspiring to chart a career in commerce, a two-day “Premier B-school Fair” started at a city hotel today.

On the first day, students accompanied by their parents could be seen collecting admission forms and enquiring about the admission procedures and fee structures at the stalls put by teams from various colleges.

Soumen Ghosh, the managing director and the chief executive officer of the Calcutta-based Win Group that organised the fair, said: “In Bihar, students are academically very conscious. They just need to get the right guidance after graduation. This fair will enable the students to directly interact with the college authorities without contacting any mediator or agents.”

In all, 30 business schools from Noida, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Dehradun, New Delhi and Pune are taking part in the fair.

“Today, an MBA degree matters a lot. It is a very good career option after graduation not only for students of bachelors in business administration (BBA) but also for the non-BBA graduates. Considering the boom in the information technology sector, masters in business administration (MBA) in information technology ensures higher pay packages even for engineering graduates. However, the choice of the right college matters a lot. Such fairs help students select the right college and learn about the admission procedures,” said Prashant Kotasthane, associate professor, marketing, Sinhgad Technical Education Society, Pune.

The fair also hosted a special stall of a prominent public sector bank to reply to queries of students about educational loans that they can avail of if they take admission in a B-school. A crowd of parents and guardians were seen making enquiries at that stall.

“More course-specific educational fairs like this should be organised in Patna. It is of great help for students like us. After completing my graduation this year, my seniors were telling me to opt for MBA. But I had no information about good colleges. The interaction with authorities of certain colleges in this fair has been of good help. I am also well informed now about on how to avail of loan facilities to pursue my higher education,” said Rakesh Kumar, a student of BN College.
