Gaya, May 30: District magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi has cancelled four arms licences of suspended JDU MLC Manorama Devi and her husband, Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav alias Bindi Yadav.
The cancelled licences have to be deposited to the DM's office, while the weapons have to be deposited at the police station concerned.
If the duo fail to deposit the arms, the DM has directed the station house officer (SHO) of the police station concerned to seize those. The DM cancelled three arms licences issued in the MLC's name and one in Bindi's name on Saturday considering the report submitted by senior superintendent of police (SSP) Garima Malik.
The DM's order would, however, be served on the couple in jail in another day or two.
Manorama, Bindi, Rocky and his cousin, Teni Yadav, are presently lodged in Gaya Central Jail. Following the order by DM a notice for cancellation of arms licence was pasted on the properties of Manorama and Bindi. On the DM's order, the AP Colony house, which is in Manorama's name, has also been sealed and the process for confiscation started. Manorama's address, according to the licences for DBBL gun, rifle and revolver, was Ganeshchak village under the jurisdiction of Mohanpur police station. In case of Bindi, the licence for a rifle was issued against the address of AP Colony in Gaya town that falls under the jurisdiction of Rampur police station.
The DM has ordered that the original copy of the licences be deposited at his office. He has directed the SHOs of Rampur and Mohanpur police stations to seize the arms if the same are not deposited immediately.
Bindi is a named accused in connection with the murder case of Aditya Sachdeva, in which Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky Yadav is the prime accused. On the other hand, Manorama has been made accused in connection with recovery of liquor bottles from her AP Colony residence in Gaya town. She has been made accused under the Liquor Prohibition Act (Amended).
While the police have already filed chargesheet in the court in connection with the recovery of liquor bottles, another chargesheet in the Aditya case will be filed soon. "We are waiting for the forensic report after which the chargesheet in the case will be filed," said the Gaya SSP.
Hearing the Bindi's bail petition in the road rage case, district and sessions judge Sajal Mandilwar asked for the case diary and transferred the file to the court of additional district and sessions judge Saachchidanand Singh.
The additional chief judicial magistrate - IV Om Sagar rejected Bindi's bail in the Liquor Act case. He also rejected the bail of bodyguard Rajesh Kumar.
