Patna: Yet another video showing a teenaged girl being gang-raped has gone viral on social networking sites, prompting Gaya police to lodge a complaint against unidentified persons on Saturday.
The zero FIR was lodged with Kotwali police station in Gaya district under Sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with an intent to outrage her modesty) and 67 (transmitting sexual explicit in electronic form) of IPC on the directive of the police headquarters.
Gaya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajeev Mishra said the dialect being spoken by the alleged offenders in the video suggests the incident took place in the Magadh region, which comprises of Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad and Arwal districts.
"The video seems to be an old one. While a youth is seen raping the girl, two others are busy recording the crime on their cellphones. The incident is shocking," the SSP told reporters in Gaya. He, however, said that the girl was raped by only the youth and not all present on the scene of the crime.
Earlier, additional director general (headquarters) S.K. Singhal said that inspector-general (Patna zone) Nayyar Hasnain Khan has been assigned to monitor the investigation. "If required we will seek the help of the criminal investigation department to ascertain the identity of the accused," he told The Telegraph.
IG Khan said the video clips have been provided to all SPs under Patna zone and they have been directed to ascertain the identity of the offenders and the girl. He said pictures of the accused have been provided to village chowkidars of the four districts to help the police ascertain the identity of the offenders at the earliest. He said the police would ensure speedy detection of the crime so that the accused are punished by the court for their heinous act. "The guilty won't be spared whosever they may be," Khan said.
On April 28, a video showing a group of youngsters, including minors, indulged in sexual assault on a minor girl, had gone viral on social media, leading to the arrest of the 12 accused. Eight of the accused were said to be minors.
