Patna: Spreading the word about the Narendra Modi government's achievements is one of the key strategies the Bihar BJP is working on these days.

The party leaders have put the organisation machinery, particularly the grassroots units, in an overdrive to get the desired results. And leaving nothing to chance, the party is relying on technology as well as the traditional sources of information dissemination for this purpose.

"We have asked Shakti Kendras and booth-level units to identify at least five persons who have smartphones with them. Details of such persons will be compiled and a database will be kept at the state level. Any message which we want to reach to the people will be communicated to such persons," a senior BJP leader, who is one of the persons given the task of monitoring this move, shared this information with The Telegraph.

In Bihar, there are around 10,000 Shakti Kendras, which function at the level of panchayats and urban local bodies, of the BJP functional at present in addition to around 55,000 booth level committees of the party.

In addition to this technology-driven platform, the party will reach out to religious leaders considered having good influence over the local populace. "Members from our grassroots organisations have been asked to meet religious leaders from all communities on a regular basis and share information about the work the central government does for the people, in general, and the deprived sections, in particular. As such religious leaders keep on meeting local people, we hope that the message would also spread through them," said the BJP leader.

While the BJP is using the existing set-up to spread the word about the Centre's achievements, its senior leaders are also busy in guiding the grassroots workers to expand the organisational structure of the party in light of the directive given by party national president Amit Shah during his recent visit to Bihar.

"Twenty senior BJP leaders from the state have been given the task of monitoring the organisational expansion work and each one of them has been given responsibility of two Lok Sabha constituencies," said a BJP functionary.

Some major work being done for this purpose include appointing additional office-bearers at the Shakti Kendras, adding new members to the party at the booth level and increasing the number of booth level committees so that all 62,780 booths could be covered in the state. "We have been asked to monitor the functioning of the grassroots organisations to ensure that those are functioning in the desired manner. We are also supposed to visit the field in case some special efforts are required<>," said a BJP senior leader.
